Advancing Sustainable Business Growth Through Collaborative Landscape Approaches

Last tuesday, our Managing Director, Mr Amir Isyam Abdul Rahim, had the honour to moderate the WWF-Malaysia side event “A Shared Platform for Business Growth and Nature Protection: Incentivising Growers Towards RSPO Certification” held in conjunction with RT2025. The session brought together distinguished panellists including Dr Glyn Davies, Senior Advisor for the Sabah Landscape Programme (WWF-Malaysia); Ms Julia Majail, Director of the Sabah JASPO Initiative; Mr Nazlan Mohamad, Chief Sustainability Officer of Sawit Kinabalu Group; and Mr Hamka bin Kasma, Chairman of Koperasi Lestari Penanam Sawit Sabah Berhad (KLASS).
The discussion served as a timely reminder that the path towards sustainability requires not only technical solutions but also meaningful partnerships that align economic resilience with ecological integrity. By exploring market-based mechanisms such as RSPO credits and buyer support, the session examined how growers, particularly smallholders, can be empowered to adopt responsible practices and achieve certification. The conversation also underscored the potential of inclusive, landscape-level approaches in strengthening responsible supply chains while bridging business performance with biodiversity conservation.
Drawing on real-world examples from Sabah’s Tawau-Kunak and Tabin landscapes, the panel highlighted scalable models that demonstrate how environmental protection, community wellbeing, and commercial value can coexist within production areas. These regions represent a rare convergence of biodiversity richness, business opportunity, and shared stewardship, illustrating that sustainable development is attainable when collaboration and innovation are prioritised. At IM Possible Solutions, we remain committed to advancing initiatives that bridge sustainability, technology, and partnership-driven growth to support Malaysia’s transition towards a resilient and inclusive green economy.
