Reflecting on OP8 Strategic Directions 🌏
The OP8 Strategic Directions panel at the SGP Malaysia National Conference 2026 marks the conclusion of IM Possible Solutions’ involvement in supporting the development of Malaysia’s SGP OP8 Country Programme Strategy (CPS). Over the past months, we have worked closely with partners and stakeholders to shape the programme’s strategic direction – from consultations to endorsement – which culminated in the SGP Conference by UNDP.

Yesterday, on the second day of the conference, our Managing Director, Amir Isyam Abdul Rahim moderated the panel on “OP8 Strategic Directions and Opportunities”, alongside En. Ahmad Farid bin Mohamed, Rosanna De Luca, Ginny Ng, and Pn.Siti Salwa Samsudin.
The session unpacked what OP8 means in practice – from its focused priorities and selected landscapes to the shift towards a more coordinated, landscape-level approach. A key takeaway was the importance of linking conservation with community livelihoods, supported by strong partnerships.
Importantly, the discussion also provided clarity for potential applicants, highlighting what OP8 is looking for and the support available beyond funding.
Grateful for the thoughtful exchange and strong engagement throughout.
As we conclude this chapter, we extend our appreciation to UNDP Malaysia and the GEF Small Grants Programme Malaysia team for their collaboration and trust throughout this process. We look forward to seeing OP8 move into implementation and wish the team continued success in driving impactful, community-led initiatives across Malaysia.
