Rewriting the Malaysian SME Talent Playbook for a Decade of Disruption
Our Managing Director, Amir Isyam Abdul Rahim, has published his latest peer-reviewed paper, “Rewriting the Malaysian SME Talent Playbook for a Decade of Disruption,” in the Pertanika Journal of Professional Development and Continuing Education (ProCEd), published by UPM Press.
The paper explores how Malaysian SMEs can remain competitive amid a decade of disruption, where artificial intelligence, demographic shifts, changing workforce expectations, regulatory reforms, and geopolitical uncertainty are reshaping the future of work.
Amir argues that the traditional “War for Talent” has evolved into a broader “War for Population.” Rather than competing with larger organisations on scale, the paper highlights how SMEs can leverage their “Agility Advantage” by adopting more adaptive, human-centred approaches to leadership and talent management.
Ultimately, the paper calls for Malaysian SMEs to rethink their talent strategies—not by asking people to adapt to outdated workplace structures, but by building organisations that are ready for the realities of tomorrow’s workforce.
